Restorative Justice

The North Peace Justice Society THIS SITE IS NO LONGER ACTIVE OR MONITORED!

The philosophy of the North Peace Justice Society is based on community healing. The community decides what is best for itself in terms of resolving certain criminal matters. The North Peace Justice Society accepts referrals from the RCMP, Crown Counsel, School District #60 and the Fire Department.  The Society has accepted on average 60-70 files this year. We have been able to complete 92% of these files successfully.

Our goals are simple; restore community relationships; have the offender supply restitution; offer an alternative to the legal system.  We create a comfortable atmosphere for the victims and let the offenders atone for their mistakes. We follow the Restorative Justice Program which offers a few options. The Community Justice Forum and the offender/victim mediation are most commonly used in our community.

We are a not-for-profit organization that has no long-term funding. We rely on fundraisers, the City of Fort St John and donations from the community. If you or your company would like to make a charitable donation please e-mail restorativejustice@telus.net
